MORE THAN 2,000 UNITS OF AUSTRALIA’S favourite performance Volkswagen Tiguans – the five-seat 162TSI R-Line and seven-seat Allspace 162TSI R-Line – are now arriving in dealerships with greater value for immediate delivery.
Normally with a recommended retail drive-away price from $65,969 (Sydney) or $66,221 (Melbourne), the five-seat Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI R-Line is now available nationwide from $61,990 driveaway until December 31.
Two extra seats continue to add no extra cost – the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace 162TSI R-Line seven-seater is the same price until December 31.
Both the Tiguan and Tiguan Allspace 162TSI R-Line combine a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder delivering 162kW of power and 350Nm of torque, with a 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) and 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
This high level of performance and dynamic ability is now available to Australians for a comparable price to less powerful medium SUVs.
Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles head of product and marketing Nathan Johnson confirmed that more than half of Tiguan sales consist of the flagship 162TSI or R, even before this latest stock increase.
“Few if any medium SUV rivals challenge a Tiguan 162TSI R-Line for sportiness or driver appeal, so it’s no wonder this variant is in such high demand for performance loving Australians,” Mr Johnson said.
“The combination of adaptive chassis control, a sporty engine, the traction of 4MOTION and extremely high specification with either five or seven seats makes this Volkswagen medium SUV compelling to all families.
“And, with more than 2,000 five and seven seat Tiguans arriving on Australian shores now, we are able to offer our high performance 162TSI R-Line for around the price rivals charge for flagship versions of less powerful SUVs.”

There are also approximately 300 Tiguan 132TSI Life and 700 Tiguan Allspace 132TSI Life variants available nationwide, delivering a 132kW and 320Nm version of the 2.0-litre turbo engine and still with 4MOTION all-wheel drive – both available from $50,990 driveaway.
