THE ADDITION OF TWO NEW VARIANTS featuring the same feisty turbocharged 2.0-litre engine as the popular Mercedes-Benz A 250 hatch are set to round out a diverse offering for the A-Class Sedan range introduced locally in 2019.
The addition of the feature-packed front-wheel-drive Mercedes-Benz A 250 Sedan and A 250 4MATIC Sedan should be an enticing proposition for purchasers, slotting into the sedan line-up between the Mercedes-Benz A 180 Sedan and the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4MATIC Sedan.
The Sedan range provides a stylish alternative to hatchback variants of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class family, with both sedans featuring boot space of 420 litres (rear seats in place), an increase of 50 litres over hatchbacks, plus a 950mm-wide boot opening for easy loading of larger items.
The A-Class Sedan has also set a new worldwide mark in aerodynamic efficiency; its drag co-efficient of 0.22 is the lowest ever measured for a passenger vehicle.
The new A 250 Sedan family comprises two variants – front-wheel-drive and 4MATIC (all-wheel-drive). All A 250s are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine (165kW/350Nm) paired to a 7G-DCT seven-speed automatic transmission.

Standard equipment for the A 250 Sedan includes the advanced MBUX multimedia system with navigation, extensive personalisation and voice control functions; two 10.25-inch digital display screens arranged in widescreen format; Thermatic climate control; Keyless Start; DAB digital radio, a 225-watt, nine-speaker sound system; the latest-generation sports steering wheel with touch controllers; reversing camera; smartphone integration with wireless charging; steering wheel shift paddles, and advanced safety equipment including Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Assist and Adaptive High Beam Assist.
The A 250 Sedan also incorporates compatibility with Mercedes me Connect, the smartphone app that allows direct interactivity with the vehicle including functions to lock or unlock the doors, start the engine remotely, access key vehicle information or configure servicing requirements.
It also incorporates 18-inch, 5 twin-spoke alloy wheels in high-sheen black plus a two-pipe, chrome-look exhaust system.
The A 250 Sedan is on sale now, with first deliveries from later this month.
Mercedes-Benz A 250 4MATIC Sedan
The Mercedes-Benz A 250 4MATIC Sedan adds several features over the A 250 Sedan, in addition to the all-weather assurance and superior dynamics of the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system.
The A 250 4MATIC Sedan includes the Keyless-GO system, Comfort Sports seats in Dinamica microfibre, brushed stainless steel sports pedals with rubber studs, ambient lighting featuring 64 colours, red contrast stitching, a Nappa leather steering wheel with a flattened lower section and a panoramic glass sunroof.
Trim enhancements include AMG body styling on front and rear aprons and side sill panels, a ‘diamond’ radiator grille, and dark-tinted rear privacy glass. Performance additions include a Sports Direct steering system, perforated front brake discs and lowered comfort suspension.
The A 250 4MATIC Sedan is on sale now, with deliveries expected to begin in March.
