THE POPULAR MERCEDES-BENZ GLC mid-size SUV is now available in limited numbers with the enticing Avantgarde Line styling package. This offers a stylish alternative to the AMG Line design that is standard on the GLC 300 offered in Australia.
The urban-focused GLC 300 Avantgarde packs in a high level of standard equipment including sought-after features such as a panoramic glass sunroof, the KEYLESS-GO Convenience Package, heated front seats with memory settings, and a head-up display.
Externally, the new edition is easily distinguished by eye-catching gloss chrome finishes on the distinctive radiator shell set with a single louvre, plus simulated underguards at the front and rear of the vehicle.
New bi-colour 20-inch multi-twin-spoke alloy wheels with a high-sheen finish complete the Avantgarde exterior package, enhanced by standard aluminium roof rails and aluminium-look running boards set with black rubber studs.
Inside, Avantgarde styling complements a classy and spacious interior clad in black Nappa-look ARTICO upholstery (Sienna Brown/Black and Macchiato Beige/Black are no-cost options), together with anthracite linestructure lime wood trim and high-gloss black finishes.
Customers can choose from a number of standard metallic paint finishes including Verde Silver, Graphite Grey, High-Tech Silver, Obsidian Black and Spectral Blue, or non-metallic Polar White.
Other standard GLC 300 Avantgarde features include a leather-clad multifunction sports steering wheel, velour floor mats, Comfort seats with four-way lumbar support for the driver and front passenger, illuminated door sills with ‘Mercedes-Benz’ lettering, interior Ambient Lighting, and external projection of the Mercedes-Benz logo.
Latest technologies interweave the GLC 300 Avantgarde cabin including the large portrait-style centre display screen housing the acclaimed MBUX multimedia system, and a fingerprint scanner allowing different drivers to pre-set their own vehicle preferences. There is also Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto smartphone integration, plus wireless charging for compatible mobile devices, dual-zone climate control and digital radio.
The KEYLESS-GO Convenience Package allows the driver to unlock the vehicle with a simple touch of the door handle, with the key fob in their pocket or bag. It also includes EASY-PACK tailgate, facilitating electric opening and closing, plus a USB package.
The GLC 300 Avantgarde includes Parking Package as standard, incorporating a 360-degree camera, Active Parking Assist, and the Transparent Bonnet feature. This uses onboard cameras and sensors to create a virtual picture of the area beneath and in front of the vehicle. This is useful when navigating rugged terrain, but also extremely helpful in navigating tight spaces such as urban car parks.
It’s part of a suite of standard safety features that also includes DISTRONIC active cruise control, Blind Spot Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, a tyre pressure warning system, nine airbags, and the PRE-SAFE system which instantaneously prepares the vehicle and its occupants if an imminent collision is detected.
Further features of this compelling package include LED high-performance headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist, a Mirror Package including an auto-dipping rear-view mirror and electrically folding external mirrors, heat-insulating dark tinted glass, and pre-installation for trailer coupling.
The GLC 300 Avantgarde SUV rides on AGILITY CONTROL suspension with selective damping, while the standard 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system ensures predictable handling and surefooted traction in a variety of road conditions. The economical turbocharged four-cylinder engine has an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) complete with 48-volt electrical system. Together with 190 kW of power and 400 Nm of torque and a 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic transmission, drivers can expect enthusiastic yet refined power delivery.
