Desirable BMW M models here later in the year

THE NEW PRODUCT ONSLAUGHT FROM high-performance brand BMW M is set to continue with the launch of five new powerhouse models later this year.

The all-new BMW M4 Competition Convertible with xDrive, the first-ever BMW M3 Competition Sedan and M4 Competition Coupé with xDrive and new BMW X3 M Competition and X4 M Competition will all arrive for customer deliveries in Q4, 2021.

Announcement of the new models and their pricing come at a time when Australia has again underlined its global importance to the BMW M brand. Figures show it is among the top markets in the world for sales of BMW M models in the overall model sales mix.

Pricing and specification details of the new models are listed below (all prices plus on road costs).

BMW M4 Competition Convertible with xDrive: $176,900 

Product highlights:

BMW M3 Competition Sedan with xDrive: $160,900

BMW M4 Competition Coupe with xDrive: $165,900

Option packages 

A range of options are available for the BMW M3 Competition and M4 Competition with xDrive.

These include:

  • M Carbon ceramic brakes, which deliver enhanced heat dissipation for high level racetrack performance ($16,500)
  • M Carbon exterior package, which includes carbon fibre front bumper, mirror caps, rear spoiler and diffuser ($9,500)
  • Lightweight M Carbon bucket seats, which reduce weight by 9.6kg and feature a structure-based design and integral head restraints that can be dismantled for track driving ($7,500)
  • M Carbon Package, which combines M Carbon bucket seats, M Carbon exterior package and M Carbon ceramic brakes ($26,000)
  • Track tyres (subject to availability): Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 or Pirelli P Zero Corsa ($2,000) 

The blue calipers of the M compound brake system can also be optioned in a choice of high gloss red or black.

BMW Individual paint finishes include Dravit Grey metallic, Tanzanite Blue metallic and Oxide Grey metallic. All three are available for $2500.

BMW Individual Frozen Brilliant White metallic is available for $7000, while Frozen Portimao Blue metallic, Frozen Black metallic, Frozen Dark Grey and Frozen Orange metallic are available for $5000.

The Carbon Fibre interior trim package, which includes carbon fibre steering wheel finishers and gearshift paddles for the Competition models, comes as standard fitment. Four no-cost trim options are available, including: Aluminium Tetragon, BMW Individual with finishers in piano black, BMW Individual with finishers in aluminium fabric high gloss and BMW Individual fine-wood trim ‘Fineline’ Black with silver effect open-pore.

A range of upholstery options can be specified at no cost including the all-new Yas Marina Blue/Black and Kyalami Orange/Black.

Four dynamic wheel designs are available with every option featuring an M forged light alloy style with double-spoke styling.

In addition, the M Driver’s Package is available for the entire range of BMW M3 and M4 models for the first time. The package increases the standard 250km/h top speed of respective models to 290km/h (280km/h for M4 Competition Convertible with xDrive) and includes a complimentary voucher for the renowned BMW Driving Experience Advance 2 course. The voucher can be used at famed tracks including Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit and even international circuits such as Hockenheim or the Nürburgring.

Pricing for the M Driver’s Package is $5000.

Option packages  

A new option package structure has been created for the new X3 M and X4 M Competition with a range of compelling new equipment offerings.

They include:

  • Rear Seat Comfort Package (inc. Sun protection glazing, heated seats, front and second row, [only for X3 Competition] reclining second row seats, roller sunblinds for second row and luggage compartment net). $2,000 (X3 M Competition) and $1,400 (X4 M Competition) 
  • Executive Package (Steering wheel heating, acoustic glazing and active seat ventilation) $2,000
  • Innovations Package (Remote Engine Start, Gesture Control and BMW Driver Recorder) $1,400 
  • M Carbon Package (M Carbon precision strut, M Carbon mirror caps, M Carbon rear spoiler – X4M Competition only) $2500 (X3 M Competition) and $4000 (X4 M Competition)

In addition, M compound brakes can be specified for both models in either high gloss red or high gloss black to personalise to individual tastes. M roof rails in high gloss black, which are standard on X3 M Competition can also be fitted to the X4 M Competition.

An expanded line-up of exterior finishes is offered for the new models.

New additions include Sao Paulo Yellow, M Carbon Black metallic, Marina Bay metallic and Brooklyn Grey. All are no cost options. Tanzanite Blue metallic, which is part of the BMW Individual program selection, is also new and can be specified for $2000.

The new finishes complement the existing offerings including Alpine White, Black Sapphire metallic, Sophisto Grey Brilliant Effect and Toronto Red.

BMW X3 M and X4 Competition are now available with two 21-inch alloy wheel options. The new M light forged alloy wheel double-spoke style 892M Bicolour Black is fitted as standard, while the 21-inch M light alloy V-spoke style 765M Bicolour Jet Black can be specified as a no cost option.

The interior trim suite has also been updated for the new models. M interior trim finishers Aluminium Dark Rhombicle now comes as standard, while M interior finishers Carbon Fibre and BMW Individual interior trim finishers piano finish Black can be fitted without cost to the customer.

Premium upholstery options carry over from the previous model to the new BMW X3 M and X4 M Competition.

Bicolour Black/Midrand Beige is offered in the leather Merino/Alcantara combination, while Sakhir Orange, Adelaide Grey and Black are available as part of the Extended Leather Merino program. Tartufo, from the BMW Individual Extended Leather line, can also be optioned.
