BMW to release just nine 8 Series Heritage editions

EXCLUSIVITY IS PART of the ownership experience of the BMW 8 Series, but the new Heritage Edition takes that to a new level, with just nine being sold locally.

The new model, which pays tribute to the legendary 8 Series luxury sport grand tourer that first launched in Australia 30 years ago, will be available exclusively in the 840i powertrain and in three body styles: Coupé, Gran Coupé and Convertible.

All three body styles are powered by BMW’s famed TwinPower Turbo in-line six-cylinder engine that produces 250kW and 500Nm and drives through the rear wheels via a highly responsive eight-speed Steptronic Sports transmission.

Dynamic capability is aided by standard fitment of elements such as M Sport differential, adaptive M suspension and M Sport brakes across all three body styles.

The BMW 8 Series additionally features a BMW Carbon Core, which integrates use of carbon fibre in the chassis to reduce weight and the centre of gravity while providing a high level of rigidity for enhanced handling.

An extensive list of standard luxury items adds to cabin ambience while delivering comfort and convenience to the driver and their occupants. In addition to sumptuous full leather Merino upholstery, the 8 Series offers an instrument panel and upper door trim finished in ‘Walknappa’ leather, active seat ventilation, seat heating, heated armrests, soft-close doors and a 464-watt Harmon/Kardon surround sound system.

Standard driver assistance features include BMW Head-Up Display, Driving Assistant Professional – which integrates Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Steering and Lane Control Assistant – and Parking Assistant Plus. The latter includes Active Park Distance Control, Reversing Assistant and 3D view among several other cutting-edge features.

Just one BMW Individual paint finish and BMW Individual full leather Merino combination will be available for each 8 Series Heritage Edition model in each body style, providing an additional touch of personalised exclusivity.

The three paint and upholstery combinations in each body style are as follows:

BMW Individual Frozen Marina Bay Blue
BMW Individual Full Leather Merino Black

BMW Individual Frozen Black
BMW Individual Full Leather Merino Ivory White

BMW Individual Frozen Dark Silver
BMW Individual Full Leather Merino Tartufo/Black

The interior of each vehicle will carry an ‘Edition Heritage – 1/9’ badge on the centre console.

Other interior elements specially curated for the special editions include BMW CraftedClarity Glass application for the BMW controller, engine start/stop button and gear selector, and BMW Individual Piano Finish Black interior trim. The M headliner in Alcantara Anthracite will also be standard for the 840i Coupé and Gran Coupé.

The addition of 20-inch M light-alloy wheels in Y-spoke style 728M Jet Black, M Sport brake callipers finished in red and M high-gloss Shadow Line with extended contents will deliver premium and exclusive touches to the exterior package of the 8 Series Heritage Edition models.
