IT WILL BE $2,000 EASIER TO GET into the Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI R-Line until June 30, with that amount refunded from the sticker of the top selling Tiguan five-seat variant via a factory cashback offer.
Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles last month commenced offering the seven-seat Tiguan Allspace range for the same recommended retail price as the Tiguan five-seat normal wheelbase (NWB) with equivalent drivetrains. Now the single best-selling Tiguan variant of all types is being offered at one of its best offers since its release.
The R-Line is powered by a 162kW/350Nm version of the EA888 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, driven through a 7-speed wet-clutch DSG and 4MOTION all-wheel-drive.
The new, third generation Tiguan is due for this market in some 12 months.
“All Tiguan engines are available for all budgets,” said Michal Szaniecki, Director of Volkswagen Passenger Vehicles.
“This one of the few instances in the current Tiguan five seater’s life cycle that we have had sufficient supply of the top variant, which, when available has of itself made up 50 percent of Tiguan sales.”
Of Volkswagen Passenger Vehicle sales generally as the first half of the year concludes, Mr Szaniecki said the segment shares of the Polo, Golf, T-Roc, Tiguan Allspace and Touareg had grown in 2024.
“We’re seeing that our customers continue to gravitate toward our higher end, fully specified variants, perceiving not only the desirability of these, but their value too. Hence the recent decision to offer a fully-equipped Golf GTI at $59,990 drive away,” he said.
“Tiguan R-Line remains very much the SUV equivalent to that gold standard ‘hot hatchback’.”
