IN SOME WAYS, car owners have never had it better – longer warranties, fixed price or capped price servicing and even, in some cases, guaranteed resale value.
Volkswagen has just announced a new service plan that could save new vehicle buyers as much as $1800 over five years of ownership.
Effective this week, the Volkswagen Care Plan, available at purchase or prior to the first scheduled service, applies across the range, including both passenger and commercial vehicles.
On some models, that represents savings of more than $1000 compared to Assured Service Pricing. Another benefit for many buyers is the ability to include the plan in purchase financing (and since the servicing is a long-term plan, it makes better sense than loading some other costs in the upfront financing deal).
The Care Plan future-proofs costs by fixing them at the current rate, ensuring the amount paid for scheduled services doesn’t increase over the period of ownership.
Also worth considering when it comes to resale, the plan automatically transfers to the new owner if the vehicle is sold before the plan expires.
Free roadside assist applies for the duration of the chosen package – three years or five (conditional on observing the service schedule).
And all Volkswagens now carry a five-year unlimited kilometre warranty.
All in all, that’s a real reassurance for intending buyers.
