SUZUKI JUST KEEPS ON racking up sales, without making a song and dance about it. The Jimny has a waiting list (12 months, the last we heard), the Ignis happily overcomes its Quasimodo looks and sells strongly, the Baleno, S-Cross and Vitara are all popular, but the star of the range is undoubtedly the smart little Swift.
Now, Suzuki Australia has announced the launch of the new Suzuki Swift for the Australian market.
The Swift Series II represents strong value for money, with an introductory price of just $18,990 drive away. New Swift will continue with a three-tier model line-up: The Swift GL Navigator in Manual and Automatic transmissions, and the Swift GL Navigator Plus and the top of the range Swift GLX Turbo in automatic only.
With up to $2000 in added features (Suzuki’s figures), the Swift looks to cement its position as one of the best value propositions in the light car segment.
New advanced safety technologies have been introduced to ensure Swift drivers are as safe as possible when behind the wheel. These features include blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, heated door mirrors and reverse parking sensors.
Blind spot monitoring detects vehicles in or approaching the rear blind spots on either side of the vehicle by illuminating a warning LED icon in the relevant exterior mirror.
Rear cross traffic alert uses two rear mounted side radar sensors to alert the driver of approaching vehicles on either side of the vehicle when reversing out of car park spaces.
These key advanced safety features are now standard across the GL Navigator Plus and GLX Turbo variants (we know it’s a price-driven policy, but we’re disappointed to see the entry-level model miss out on safety features).
Other new standard features across all grades include a digital speedometer and auto up windows. Rear speakers, already standard in the GLX Turbo, have been added to the GL Navigator variants.
Exterior design changes include a newly engineered front bumper and grille, and new sporty alloy wheels.
The engine configuration remains unchanged, as does the colour line-up except for the two-tone grey which has been replaced with a single-tone grey.
The new Swift Series II will come standard with a comprehensive five-year unlimited kilometre factory warranty. Suzuki’s Capped Price Service Program (with 12 month/15,000km service intervals for GL Navigator variants and 12 month/10,000km service intervals for the GLX Turbo) applies to the new Swift Series II, ensuring cost effective motoring and peace of mind.
Suzuki Australia General Manager – Automobile, Mr. Michael Pachota said, “The launch of the new Suzuki Swift is a milestone for the light car segment, offering class leading value, advanced safety technology and a fun ride at a competitive price point.”
