Subaru introduces XV replacement, the Crosstrek

SUBARU WAS A PIONEER IN the field of all-wheel drive and the latest addition to their range is sure to attract plenty of attention from Subaru fans, and we know there are many.

The all-new Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive Subaru Crosstrek is bound for Australia.

In 2012, Subaru took the best things they have ever done and put it into one of the best things they have ever done to pioneer the small SUV category, with the launch of Subaru XV. And now Subaru creates history again, redefining the category it pioneered with the new Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive Subaru Crosstrek coming soon to Australia.

The XV has proven popular; Subaru hopes it continues with the Crosstrek

Subaru Australia’s Managing Director, Blair Read, said: “We’re excited to confirm the next-generation XV is coming to Australia soon, and it will carry the Crosstrek nameplate.”

“The new name embodies what the Crosstrek does and is, an All-Wheel Drive crossover small SUV that’s capable of trekking almost anywhere you please, whether that’s urban driving or outdoor adventures, with absolute confidence and enjoyment.”

“The all-new Subaru Crosstrek SUV encapsulates an active lifestyle, through its distinctive exterior design and drivability, and offers plenty of versatility meaning its skilled to take on any adventure with a sense of ease.”

Neat design and Subaru’s reputation will help sales

Once again, Subaru has stamped its authority on what makes a small All-Wheel Drive SUV, with unrivalled capability, matched with refined and rugged style and the latest safety and infotainment technology.

Alongside this, the all-new Subaru Crosstrek represents a step change in driver and passenger ergonomics and comfort. Taking a human-centred design approach (something we are strongly in favour of, since most cars, in our experience, are driven by humans), the all-new Subaru Crosstrek has been years in development. In collaboration with medical schools, Subaru designers studied the structure and movement of the human body to design a small SUV that delivers advanced comfort, sound ergonomics and an intuitive connection between driver, vehicle and road.

Building on Subaru’s reputation for producing ultra-safe vehicles, the all-new Subaru Crosstrek will comprise cutting-edge safety features, including the latest generation EyeSight Driver Assist system and Driver Monitoring System – Driver Focus (DMS) to offer another layer of safety and help reduce the chance of accidents. Additionally, featuring 9 SRS airbags, the all-new Subaru Crosstrek is well-equipped in case of a collision.

Furthermore, the feeling of confidence is further underpinned by the Subaru Global Platform with a refined inner frame that increases cabin strength and delivers a quieter and more comfortable ride.

There are two levels of trim (we think). This must be the premium model…
… and that would make this the entry level

Inside the cabin, the all-new Subaru Crosstrek will feature state-of-the-art intuitive infotainment technology to increase user-friendliness and convenience. Such features include a 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and the ultimate convenience of wireless smartphone charging.

The engine is still the sturdy 2-litre boxer engine

Under the bonnet, the all-new Subaru Crosstrek will be powered by a sporty yet refined direct injection 2.0-litre Boxer engine and a Lineartronic transmission with 8-speed paddle shift manual mode, and the option of a Hybrid variant boasting a robust Subaru e-Boxer engine.

More information regarding Australian specification for this model will be revealed in the coming months.
