Nissan Navara gets a facelift

NOW THAT ITS Mercedes-Benz twin has been dropped from the market, the Nissan Navara Dual Cab can get on and sell on its merits.

To help things along, Nissan has enhanced the range with key style and NVH changes.

The Nissan Navara ST Dual Cab looks even tougher courtesy of a Black Styling Package – signature V-Motion grille in black, black front fog light surrounds, a black alloy sport bar and black mirror caps. Black-on-silver 18-inch alloys replace the existing 16-inch wheels. All Dual Cab variants now benefit from a significant NVH update, designed to make the Navara even more refined on the road. With a focus on the four key pillars of refinement – wind noise, engine noise and vibration, road noise and cabin isolation – the 2020 Navara is now smoother and quieter than ever before.

Black highlights give the Navara a tougher look

A new acoustic windscreen reduces wind and road noise entering the cabin, while new sound-absorbing material added to the centre console, firewall and transmission tunnel further reduces noise. Finally, a new engine cover treatment helps minimise engine noise.

The updates join other recent upgrades to the Navara family, including the addition of the all-new Alliance In-Vehicle Infotainment (AIVI) system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, controlled via a new 8.0-inch colour touchscreen, on SL, ST, ST-X, N-TREK and N-TREK Warrior models.

All Navara models, from the Navara RX to the locally developed N-TREK Warrior, offer a 3.5-tonne braked towing capacity (be warned, however, that a non-genuine towbar may reduce capacity), and are covered by Nissan’s five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, five-year, 24-hour roadside assistance and six-year capped-price servicing program.

“These changes deliver even more of what our customers want from their Navara,” said Nissan Australia managing director Stephen Lester. “Not only do they add more refinement right across the Dual Cab range, but they also unlock a new tough look for one of our most popular, and most accessible, models, the Navara ST.

“Along with the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 3.5-tonne towing capability, class-leading fuel efficiency and a powerful diesel engine backed by Nissan’s five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, these updates ensure the 2020 Navara remains at the top of its game.”

The 2020 Nissan Navara is in dealerships from March. It is available in Single Cab, King Cab or Dual Cab configurations, and with a Pick Up or Cab Chassis body style.

The interior is well-fitted-out but not overly luxurious

Five-star safety with Nissan Intelligent Mobility

The 2020 Navara also benefits from Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM), a suite of advanced safety systems designed to make driving both safer and smarter, and to make drivers feel more confident, more connected and more excited when behind the wheel.

The advanced active safety technology available on the 2020 Nissan Navara includes:

AROUND VIEW MONITOR

The Around View Monitor, on ST-X, N-TREK and N-TREK Warrior grades, is a support technology that assists drivers to park with greater ease by better understanding the vehicle’s surroundings through a virtual bird’s-eye view from above the vehicle. The Around View Monitor helps the driver visually confirm the vehicle’s position relative to the lines around parking spaces and adjacent objects, allowing the driver to manoeuvre into parking spots with more ease.

HILL START ASSIST (HSA) When a driver changes pedals from the brake to the accelerator in order to start the car on a slope, the system maintains the brake pressure for a maximum of two seconds after the driver’s foot has left the brake pedal. By keeping the car at a standstill, even when not pressing down on the brake, the system helps to prevent rolling backwards when starting off on a slope.

It gets all the hi-tech goodies

HILL DESCENT CONTROL (HDC)

On the ST-X, N-TREK and N-TREK Warrior grades, the hill descent control system can help reduce driver workload when going down steep hills by applying the vehicle brakes to help control the vehicle.

The Nissan Navara also arrives with seven airbags (front, side, curtain and a driver’s knee airbag). All Pick Up grades are also equipped with a reversing camera or Around View Monitor, while reversing sensors are also standard on the ST-X, N-TREK and N-TREK Warrior.

There are three-point Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) belts on all seats, plus driver and front passenger seatbelts with load limiters and pre-tensioners, height adjustment and seatbelt warnings and second row seatbelt alert. There are also two ISOFix child restraint anchorage points on Dual Cab models.

The Nissan Navara also includes automatic headlights, hazard warning lights and an LED high-mounted brake light. Daytime running lights (DRLs) are also standard, and equipped with a unique LED signatures on select grades.

Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Brake Limited Slip Differential (BLSD), which improves dynamic performance and safety, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Traction Control System (TCS) and Brake Assist (BA) also appear on all grades.

… and what sports ute wouldn’t be complete without a black sports bar?
