RENAULT’S KOLEOS mid-size SUV has proven a popular model for the brand, but as we all know, nothing stands still in the motoring world.
As a result, Renault Australia has revealed its new look 2020 Renault Koleos claiming improvements at all levels, plus a more assertive exterior design, enhanced interior comfort, more on-board technologies and an enhanced 5:5:5 Easy Life Ownership Program.
The 2020 Koleos comes with a refreshed, more elegant and muscular style, highlighted by an imposing front grille, new chrome inserts and wider skid plates.
Complementing the new look are redesigned alloy wheels and Renault’s signature C-shaped LED lights – with additional LED fog lamps now being fitted – to give the vehicle an even stronger signature on the road.
The 2020 Koleos will come with a new 5:5:5 Easy Life Ownership Program providing customers with five years unlimited km warranty; five years capped price servicing (up to 150,000km whichever comes first) and up to years years’ service-activated roadside assist.
“Starting from $32,490 (plus on road costs) the Renault Koleos is designed for Australians who are confident in their decisions and are prepared to stand apart from those around them,” Anouk Poelmann, Renault Australia Managing Director said.
“Elegant curves, bold lines, aggressive grilles and a strong new colour, the new Renault Koleos will stand out with a road presence that is distinctively Renault,” Poelmann continued.

Australia’s top selling French passenger vehicle, the Koleos offers real off-road capability with its all-wheel drive transmission which benefits from the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s expertise.
The new Koleos will be sold in traditional Life, Zen and Intens variants and will be available in seven colours (Metallic: Millesim Red, Meissen Blue, Black, Grey, Mineral Beige and Universal White as well as Solid White). Pricing starts at $32,490 for the Life 2.5-litre CVT (2WD), rising to $35,990 for the Zen 2.5-litre CVT (2WD). For some reason, Renault’s press release missed out on a price for the Intens 2.5-litre CVT 2WD. The Intens 2.5-litre 4×4 CVT petrol model is priced from $45,490 (all prices plus on road costs).
More assertive style
Most buyers choose the Koleos for its external styling. Elegant appearance, muscular shoulders and stylish bodywork mean it ticks plenty of boxes.
More distinctive front-end
The new Koleos’ front-end now features a more pronounced front grille. A new chrome strip appears across the whole length of the bumper and extends to the chrome-underlined fog lamps. In the lower part, the bumper has a new and more impressive skid plate.
Greater harmony between front and rear
The rear of the new Koleos has been redesigned, with a skid plate extending higher on the bumper and a transverse chrome strip to match the front-end. The third stop lamp has been extended. The new Koleos retains twin chrome exhaust pipes for a sporty touch.
Distinctive identifying features
Distinctive and striking features are retained, such as its chrome trim extending horizontally down the whole wing, making the bonnet appear longer. There are new chrome wing trims. The C-shaped lighting signature is a characteristic feature of Renault models.
Easy Life Ownership Program
New Koleos owners will be supported by an enhancement to Renault’s strong existing ownership benefits with the launch of 5:5:5 Easy Life Ownership Program.

This newly enhanced ownership offer is an increase on the previous offer of three years coverage on Koleos (promotional offers excluded) to five years for MY20 Koleos along with the additional year of Roadside Assistance when scheduled services are performed on time with a Renault Dealer.
The Koleos’ class-leading service intervals of up to 30,000km or 12 month (whichever comes first) allows up to 150,000km of driving over the first five years of ownership for some customers, which means a significantly stronger convenience and value proposition for Koleos owners compared with competitors who offer intervals ranging between 10,000km to 15,000km.In addition to the 5:5:5 Easy Life Ownership Program Renault has further improved transparency for Koleos owners by including items that were previously additional to the published schedule now as standard in each service. As with the All-New Renault Kadjar the standard service now includes items such as Air Filter, Pollen Filter, Accessory Drive Belt, Coolant Replacement, Spark Plug Replacement and Brake Fluid Replacement.

Increased on-board sophistication and comfort
Attention to detail has been applied to the finish of the passenger compartment. The new Koleos is generously proportioned and roomy, while key cabin features have been improved to enhance the comfort and well-being of passengers.
A spacious and welcoming SUV
The Koleos is 4,670 mm long, with a 2,710 mm wheelbase. It has been designed to provide as much interior space as possible for passengers and their luggage. Rear passengers have plenty of head, shoulder and elbow room. Knee room, amongst best-in-class at 289 mm, remains the same. There is now a reclining rear bench seat with two positions. The sense of spaciousness is enhanced in the Intens by an opening glass sunroof which extends over the rear seats (optional for Zen).
Comfortable seats
Front seats retain power adjustments and lumbar support with heating and ventilation features for both driver and passenger.
Ingenious versatility
With handles located in the boot, the One Touch Easy Folding Rear Seat System allows for 1/3-2/3 folding of the rear seat in no time. The loading capacity ranges from 458 litres with all five seats in place to 1690 litres with the rear seat folded. The boot offers ingenious versatility with a raised floor at the same level as that of the load sill to provide a flat loading area. There are many storage compartments, including the glove box and a generous compartment in the centre console and warming and cooling cup holders in the front.
A comprehensive suite of driver-assistance systems
The new Koleos continues to feature a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Included as standard on all models is Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS Inter-Urban), Hill Start Assist, Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Rear View Camera.
The Zen and Intens variants come with 360-degree parking sensors, Blind Spot Warning (BSW), with the Intens model also receiving additional safety features such as: Automatic High/Low Beam Headlights (AHL) and Easy Park Assist (EPA).
Smart LED Pure Vision lighting
Depending on the variant, the new Koleos can be equipped with LED Pure Vision headlamps acting both as high and low beam headlights. At night, the technology is 20 percent more powerful than a standard halogen beam, significantly improving visibility. The rear day and night running lights feature Edge Light technology which adds a 3D effect for clear and bright light, both from a distance and close up.
Full screen Apple CarPlay
All models are compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with a full-screen Apple CarPlay display available for the first time on Intens models.
R-Link 2
The R-LINK 2 sat nav and multimedia system is offered in two screen formats (depending on the variant), a 7-inch horizontal or an 8.7-inch vertical screen. The system allows drivers to personalise their driving profile (choosing features such as ambient lighting and custom speedometers) as well as featuring a voice recognition system activated from the steering wheel in order to manage sat nav, phone calls, and radio. Both USB plugs are now located under the centre console, at the base of the gear lever, for greater convenience.
When equipped with Navigation (from Zen model), free 12 months live traffic and 36-month Map Update Service provided by TomTom are included.
Ambient Lighting
The innovative light signature of Renault vehicles, the LED source ambient lighting function allows drivers to change the ambient colour of their vehicle with five colour choices available. Users can also control the intensity of the lighting and the areas of the cabin where this ambient lighting is featured.
Smart 4WD transmission
Designed and developed by the Alliance, the new Koleos’s All Mode 4×4-i has already proved itself on millions of Alliance vehicles sold worldwide. The all-wheel drive system ensures constant control of the grip between the wheels and the ground to provide ultimate driveability in all situations. Drivers can manually select the transmission mode.
Real off-road capabilities
Off-road ability is ensured with 210 mm ground clearance, one of the highest of its category, and short overhangs to provide front/rear approach and departure angles of 18 degrees and 25 degrees respectively.
Safer roadholding
The new Koleos’s All Mode 4×4-i system not only increases off-road capabilities but also improves roadholding to offer greater stability and safety. In Auto mode, all the sensors constantly monitor acceleration, yaw motion and the steering angle. Torque distribution between the front and rear wheels is then adjusted to provide greater grip and prevent understeer or oversteer.
Outstanding reliability
The new Koleos has undergone various endurance and quality tests to ensure maximum reliability, both on- and off-road. 150,000 km of roadway have been covered in extreme weather conditions: cold (-25°C), heat (+40°C), high altitude (+2,500 m), sun and dust. Very rigorous lab simulation tests have also been carried out over more than 400,000 km.
