Mitsubishi Outlander updated

WE MAKE NO apology for being fans of Mitsubishi products – they are honest, down to earth and good value. So when the popular Outlander gets an update, it grabs our attention.

The Mitsubishi Outlander has been updated to deliver a more refined and functional vehicle with a number of specification changes across the range, making it more appealing to families and grey nomads alike. And from what we can see, price increases have been kept to a minimum too.

The new exterior includes a monotone 18” alloy wheel for the ES model.

Logical, gimmick-free interior

The 2020 model year Outlander Exceed incorporates the latest generation of Mitsubishi’s Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system with active yaw technology, which offers a choice of advanced drive modes – AWC Eco, Normal, Snow and now Gravel.

A new eight-inch infotainment system includes a touchscreen monitor, and Exceed drivers will benefit from navigation technology. The driver easily updates the maps by downloading new files via USB and then uploading them directly into the SDA unit.

Safety technology has been further enhanced. The ES 2.4L model now has Forward Collision Mitigation as standard, as are rain-sensing wipers, dusk-sensing headlamps and auto dimming for the rear view mirror. In the Exceed model, the Outlander is the first model in the Mitsubishi range to display speed limit information in multi-information display sourcing data from the navigation app (TomTom map data).

Inside, the introduction of a power lumber adjustment has improved driver comfort across the range. Redesigned second-row seats have improved cushioning, offering a more comfortable driving experience for passengers. Passengers also benefit from the introduction of an additional rear USB charging port, and improved HVAC controls.

Good rear seat space

The introduction of a new overhead console, which incorporates sunglasses holder, seatbelt reminder and passenger airbag cut-off indicator gives the driver quick access to frequently used functions. (note that the Exceed does not have the sunglasses holder in this console in order to accommodate the sunroof).

“Outlander drivers are looking for an SUV they can use for their daily drive, but they can count on for their next adventure. The Outlander is equipped with excellent handling through the Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system, in addition to ample cargo space. This year we’ve strengthened the range by taking customer feedback and adding additional safety, comfort and infotainment features. It’s a flexible and great value SUV.” said Derek McIlroy, Deputy Director of Marketing and Operations.
