THE POPULAR ALL-ELECTRIC EQA AND EQB compact SUVs from Mercedes-Benz are set to make a more compelling case than ever with the addition to the range of EQA 250+ and EQB 250+ variants. Each gains a significant boost to their indicative driving range over the outgoing EQA 250 and EQB 250, in addition to sharp new styling and extra standard equipment.
The pair of compact, all-electric SUVs already find favour with a broad cross-section of customers attracted to the EQA’s compact dimensions and sleek styling, or to the outright family-friendly practicality of the spacious EQB.
Now, their all-electric credentials are boosted further with the news that the new EQA 250+ will gain an extra 54km of range over the outgoing EQA 250 to an indicative total of 578km (NEDC), while the EQB 250+ gains an additional 57km over the outgoing EQB 250 to now travel an indicative 564km (NEDC).
Sharp new styling, even sharper equipment specification
The EQA 250+ and EQB 250+ feature sharp new exterior styling including a new front grille design, plus distinctive new tail-light graphics.
Inside, both models are fitted with the current-generation Mercedes-Benz multifunction sports steering wheel in Nappa leather, featuring touch control buttons, plus a new Mercedes-Benz backlit pattern trim.
In addition, significant updates to standard equipment now include a number of previously-optional items, including AMG Line exterior styling featuring AMG body styling, front seats with electric adjustment and memory setting, an advanced sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and standard metallic paint.
The EQB 250+ adds a third row of seats as standard, allowing seating for up to seven people. This previously popular option – which can also be folded flat to create significant extra cargo capacity – further enhances the family-friendly appeal of this highly practical and flexible all-electric SUV.
Both variants are powered by an electric motor generating 140kW of power and 385Nm of torque allied to a 70.5kWh battery pack, and ride on adjustable damping suspension.
A long list of desirable features
An impressive standard equipment list carries over from the outgoing EQA 250 and EQB 250, including three-zone automatic climate control, sports-style front seats in ARTICO and MICROCUT microfibre with four-way lumbar support, the advanced MBUX multimedia system including navigation with augmented reality display, interior ambient lighting with a choice of 64 colours, Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto smartphone integration, wireless charging for mobile devices, digital radio, and a handy partition net and Load Compartment Package.
There’s also KEYLESS-GO entry and startup, a powered EASY-PACK tailgate, a Parking Package including 360-degree camera view and Active Parking Assist, LED high-performance headlights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist, heat-insulating dark tinted glass from the centre pillar backwards, and distinctive 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels.
An array of safety systems
A wide array of integral safety systems on both variants includes nine airbags, the PRE-SAFE accident anticipation system, DISTRONIC active distance assist cruise control, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, Active Braking Assist, exit warning function, tyre pressure monitoring, an auto-dipping rear-view mirror, and the Mercedes-Benz emergency call system.
Welcome new additions to the all-electric range
With their impressive range and specification, the new EQA 250+ and EQB 250+ form a compelling opening point for the all-electric range offered by Mercedes-Benz.
EQA customers can still choose to step up to the EQA 350 4MATIC featuring 215kW and 520Nm from dual motors driving power to all four wheels, a 66.5kWh battery pack, and an indicative range of 489km (NEDC). With this combination, the sporty EQA 350 4MATIC can sprint to 100 km/h in as little as 6.0 seconds.
In addition to the comprehensive EQA 250+ specification, the EQA 350 4MATIC is fitted with a Burmester 3D surround sound system, head-up display, MBUX Interior Assist, GUARD 360-degree vehicle protection, and Driving Assistance Package featuring Active Steering Assist, Route-Based Speed Adaption, and Extended Automatic Restart in Traffic.
Taking charge made easy
The launch of Mercedes me Charge brings instant benefits to owners of EQA and EQB SUVs. Public charging is effortlessly manageable thanks to its seamless integration into the MBUX multimedia system that is standard on all EQA and EQB variants. This includes navigation fitted with an Electric Intelligence feature that calculates a comfortable and time-efficient route, including charging stops.
The Mercedes me Charge network is supplied in cooperation with Chargefox, the largest national charging provider with more than 1300 stations including city centres, shopping malls, hotels and at strategically placed highway/freeway locations. In 2025, the Mercedes me Charge network will expand to include other charging providers, further growing network coverage and improving the experience of Mercedes me Charge customers.
Upon reaching a public charging station, authentication can be managed via MBUX, the Mercedes me app on a paired smartphone, or a Mercedes me Charge RFID card. Thanks to their charging integration via Mercedes me Charge, user transactions at the charging station are digitally authenticated and payments automatically debited after each session.
Users can view the specific cost per kilowatt-hour or per minute, along with an estimate of the total cost to fully charge on the MBUX display or in the Mercedes me app before starting the charging process. Customers in Australia pay the standard rate set by the operator of the charging station they use.
All EQA and EQB variants are supplied with a five-metre charging cable designed for use with the optional Mercedes-Benz Wallbox or at public charging stations, and an eight-metre cable for use with domestic power sockets.
Bonus complimentary Chargefox subscription
Mercedes-Benz will provide three years (EQA) or one year (EQB) of complimentary, unlimited charging at all Chargefox ultra-rapid stations and participating fast charging stations around Australia. Customers must register with Mercedes me Charge or Chargefox to receive these services. Some exclusions may apply.
