THE ARRIVAL OF THE Leon V hot hatch, priced from $47,990 (driveaway, or $43,990 plus on road costs) completes Cupra’s performance hatchback range.
Cupra Leon V standard equipment includes 18-inch alloys, electronic differential, Dynamic Chassis Control and sports bucket seats. It runs a 140kW/320Nm tune of the 2.0 turbo four-cylinder engine for a 0-100km/h time of 7.2 seconds.
Leon V comes online as Cupra sharpens its hatchback pricing.
“While the Leon V is Cupra’s price leader, it’s no ‘entry-level’ car,” Cupra Australia Director Ben Wilks said.
“We don’t forgo equipment to hit a price point. We see the Leon hatchback range featuring four flavours of hotness. Now the design unique to the Leon is even more affordable.”
Mr Wilks said Leon V was a passion project for Cupra Australia, having been developed initially for this market.
“Previously the Leon V wasn’t part of the Cupra global showroom,” he said, “so this is another milestone for our young brand as it goes into its first year on sale in Australia.”
With the initial allocation of the Leon VZe plug-in hybrid electric vehicle having sold though, Cupra expects to secure a further allocation shortly.
