LDV’s new MIFA people mover arrives

PEOPLE MOVER (OR MPV) DESIGN has come a long way from those old days when to drive one was to admit that your life was effectively over.

And perhaps the biggest surprise is that the new LDV MIFA is at the forefront of MPV design.

Designed from the ground up with comfort, space and convenience in mind, the all-new MIFA sets out to disrupt the people mover segment with its comprehensive blend of style, equipment and safety features.

“The all-new LDV MIFA is a glimpse into the future,” says Dinesh Chinnappa, LDV General Manager.

“Who said the practical people mover couldn’t look cool? With its revolutionary design, next-level passenger comfort and convenience, and impressive levels of standard safety equipment, the all-new MIFA has advanced the people mover game significantly.”

The interior is fairly uninspired

Exterior and interior

All-new MIFA gets a bold face framed by daytime running lights, wide stance and distinctive LED rear light signature.

The colour palette includes Metal Black, Pearl White, Dynasty Red, Mica Blue and a choice of Concrete Grey with an accented black roof. All are supported with a black leather trim interior colour, and 18-inch or 19-inch alloys (on the Executive and Luxe variants).

Inside, MIFA’s cabin offers a smartly packaged 2-2-3 seating format that allows plenty of room and central aisle access. An eight-seat model arrives early in 2023.

Depending on trim level, highlights include electric dual-sliding rear doors to aid entry and exit for passengers, premium leather, four-way electrically adjustable Captain’s Chairs, sliding and folding third row to maximise luggage space, and electric tailgate.

There are fold-out tray tables, footrests, numerous cup and bottle holders and seven USB ports throughout the cabin, Apple CarPlay (but no Android Auto, apparently) plus the pointless 64 ambient lighting colour choices (on Luxe).

Up front, key vehicle data is fed to the driver via a dedicated 7-inch digital display, while additional sound, comfort and vehicle information can be accessed via a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Also available is a multi-function, leather, heated steering wheel, digital rear view mirror and wireless mobile charging pad.

Safety

Safety continues to be a vital mainstay of every new LDV model and the new MIFA is no exception, with its ultra-high strength safety cell and full suite of active and passive ADAS safety features to protect both driver and passenger.

Alongside the driver, passenger, side and full-length curtain airbags, every MIFA regardless of variant comes with the following safety features as standard:

  • Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • ABS, ESP & Emergency Brake Assist
  • Blind Spot Monitoring
  • Lane Departure Warning & Lane Keep Assist
  • Fatigue Reminder & Attention Assist
  • Full LED Adaptive Headlights with Auto Beam Assist
  • Auto Hold
  • Rear Collision Warning
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert
  • Speed Assist System

Powertrain

At the heart of each MIFA is a robust in-house-designed 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine delivering 160kW and 360Nm via the front wheels. Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission from Aisin, the MIFA delivers effortless performance whether you’re one up or seven, returning an impressive 9.3L/100km on the WLTP combined cycle.

Price & ownership

All-new LDV MIFA Mode starts from $53,990, followed by Executive from $63,990 and Luxe from $72,990 (all plus on road costs).

The all-new LDV MIFA comes with a comprehensive factory-backed 7-year/200,000km warranty and servicing intervals of once every 12 months or 10,000km (after the first service). In addition, 5-year/130,000km Roadside Assistance means coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, for the period of your manufacturer’s warranty.

“The all-new MIFA is set to shake-up its segment thanks to its sleek exterior styling, the latest safety and technology features, and room for up to seven passengers to travel in comfort and style no matter how far the journey,” concludes Dinesh Chinnappa
