KIA’S LATEST ALL-ELECTRIC VEHICLE, the Kia EV5, is making its public debut at Vivid Sydney as the star of the brand’s hero display, Kia Kaleidoscope, at Darling Harbour.
Situated by the harbour, the Kia EV5 is illuminated and transformed by a stunning textural projection map into a kaleidoscope of pattern, colour, and movement, echoing the fun and innovative nature of the EV5.
The brilliant showcase uses a diverse range of visual motifs, as the body of the car is transformed into 14 lifelike projections, including liquid metal, x-ray vision, overgrown vines and more, highlighting the creative and imaginative focus represented in Kia’s EV range. Recycled materials have been used throughout the build, in a nod to Kia’s commitment to sustainability and innovative thinking.
Kia Australia’s General Manager of Marketing, Dean Norbiato, said “Vivid is a real highlight of the Sydney event calendar and we’re grateful to be a major partner for a third consecutive year.”
“Design is a key focus of the Kia brand, and each year we continue to evolve our experiential offerings, including those at Vivid, to be fresh and cutting-edge. It’s more fitting than ever that we contribute to the scenery with our most innovative vehicle yet, the EV5.”
Studio Messa’s Managing Director Peter Pengly said “Crafting Kia’s electrifying showcase at Vivid Sydney has been thrilling. From Darling Harbour to Circular Quay, it embodies Kia’s commitment to innovation, seamlessly blending technology and sustainability. The captivating displays perfectly encapsulate Kia’s brand essence: Movement that Inspires.”
Also on show at Vivid Sydney is the Kia EV9, nestled in the Kia Kinetic display at Circular Quay. Launched late last year, the EV9 is Kia’s halo vehicle and exemplifies the brand’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy with its harmony of futuristic design, advanced technology, and sustainable values.
Kia Kinetic is a stunning optical illusion, where through a mesmerising display, the EV9 appears to float within a kinetic world of colour and light. First appearing at this year’s Australian Open, the Kia Kinetic display has been repurposed in a further demonstration of sustainable thinking.
Featuring individual LED brick visual animations, the display is inspired by natural phenomena and landscapes, with the fluid animation constantly evolving in its kinetic form. The body of the Kia EV9 forms the perfect centrepiece of the build, allowing light and pattern to bounce off its lines and sleek design.
Vivid Sydney runs for 23 nights from Friday May 24 to Saturday June 15, with turnout expected to rival the 2023 event’s 3.5 million visitors.
