MINI AUSTRALIA HAS LAUNCHED THE new Sidewalk Edition, available for order now from $55,800 (plus on road costs). The Mini Sidewalk Edition is mechanically unchanged and is based exclusively on the Cooper S Convertible in Australia.
This means a gutsy 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine under the hood that produces 141kW and 280Nm, with drive going to the front wheels via a 7-speed sports double-clutch transmission, and the zero to 100 sprint achieved in just 7.1 seconds.
The Mini Convertible Sidewalk Edition features a long list of aesthetic enhancements that combine with its powerful drivetrain to create a car that takes wind-in-the-hair motoring to a new level.
The list begins with Laguna Blue, the special edition paintwork appointed exclusively for the Mini Sidewalk Edition. On request, the car can also be specified in White Silver or Midnight Black finishes.
Unique Sidewalk Edition stripes featuring arrow graphics adorn the bonnet, flanked by edition badging on both side scuttles. At all four corners, specially designed 17-inch ‘Scissor’ light alloys give the car further differentiation.
A Mini Yours soft-top has been specially designed for this special edition, featuring an artistically woven-in arrow graphic with high levels of detail expected of Mini Yours products.
The electrically operated soft-top can be effortlessly folded up or down in just 18 seconds, and can additionally be partially retracted along sturdy frames for flexible states of cover.
Inside, the Mini Sidewalk Edition gets predominantly Anthracite leather trim contrasted with Energetic Yellow and Petrol (a bright blue) braided accents.
Special edition door sill plates and a sports leather steering wheel with a discreet ‘Sidewalk’ logo at the bottom add touches of individual style.
Finally, the Mini Sidewalk Edition features premium sound courtesy of Harman Kardon, making this edition the go-to choice for fist-pumping, open-top motoring this summer.
“The new Mini Sidewalk Edition showcases the impressive craftsmanship by Mini Yours, making a bold and spontaneous statement for the summer. Mini owners are unique, and the Mini Sidewalk Edition takes this individuality to the next level, and then some,” said Mr. Brett Waudby, General Manager for Mini Australia and New Zealand on the new car.
To launch the new car, Mini Australia has collaborated with premium audio brand Harman Kardon and artist Owl Eyes to create Sidewalk Sounds, a much-needed response to the live music drought that has happened since the Covid-19 pandemic took hold of the globe.
The event also marks the launch of Harman Kardon’s Multiroom home speaker system, the Citation Series with an emphasis on the portable Citation 200 – the perfect outdoor speaker, arriving just in time for summer.
Sidewalk Sounds will see artist Owl Eyes driving a Mini Sidewalk Edition around Sydney with Harman Kardon sound equipment, bringing live music to city-fringe areas like Bondi Beach and Surry Hills in a top-down travelling party. All footage will be showcased online from Thursday 29 October on Mini Australia’s or Harman Kardon’s Instagram Channel.
