BMW’s M Pure range is an interesting marketing exercise that sees selected models retain the same powertrains as the non-M Pure models, but includes a higher level of specification. According to BMW, this means buyers can access a higher level of performance at a lower price point.
Leaving aside the issue of whether any of us actually need higher levels of performance than are being offered on standard models, the approach has proven very popular, with 40 percent sales growth of M Pure models in 2019.
Consequently, BMW Group Australia has added four new performance-focused M Pure variants to its local model line-up.
The new BMW M Pure model additions are across the model spectrum and include: M340i xDrive Pure, X2 M35i Pure, X5 M50i Pure and X6 M50i Pure.
They join the M550i xDrive Pure model, which was announced late last year and will also be available from early this year.
This year will see the BMW M brand undergo further expansion and enhancement with local arrival of the M8 Competition Coupé, M8 Competition Gran Coupé, X5 M Competition, X6 M Competition and M2 CS.
Pricing and specification detail of the 2020 BMW M Pure models are detailed below (all prices are plus on road costs):
X2 M35i Pure $64,400 (X2 M35i $69,400)
M340 xDrive Pure $94,900 (M340 xDrive $104,900)
X5 M50i Pure $136,900 (X5 M50i $151,900)
X6 M50i Pure $140,900 (X6 M50i $155,900)
