ONE OF THE THINGS EVERYONE hates about buying a new car is the relentless pressure to “upsell”. And we all know the technique of being dragged into an office to be sold the advantages of an extended warranty (usually by a very attractive young woman).
Auto Auto, a forward-thinking online company, has launched an Australian-first online platform where consumers can purchase quality warranty protection for their vehicles without the hassle of high-pressure selling tactics from dealerships or salespeople.
The Auto Auto platform allows customers to purchase extended car warranty when it benefits them, either when they are buying a used vehicle, or coming to the end of their new-car warranty and wanting to extend their coverage.
For the first time, customers can purchase an extended warranty directly online, tackling the commonly-held fear that salespeople will upsell them something they don’t need.
“We couldn’t believe the only place to get extended-warranty protection for your vehicle was through a car dealership or an insurance broker, and this needed to be changed,” says Auto Auto co-founder Stan Udler.
“With most cars now offering a five-year new-car warranty, you can’t expect customers to purchase an extended warranty five years before they’re going to need it.
“We solved this with a simple solution, to allow the customer to purchase online when it benefits them most.
Under the Auto Auto system, if a consumer has owned their car for five years and it’s just coming out of its warranty coverage, they can choose to buy an extension that will work for them at that time.
Or, if someone is buying a quality used car, they might want to financially protect themselves by purchasing an extended warranty at the time of purchase.
Auto Auto only offers a single product which is an extension of manufacturer warranty for three years, or up to 200,000km. The policy covers the customer up to the Market Value of their vehicle, with limited exclusions.
Auto Auto has already sold thousands of policies via its website, proving there is an appetite for consumers to take back control and purchase an extended warranty on their own terms.
But a word of warning: make sure you understand what you are buying. Do your research and read the terms and conditions very carefully.
