Another recall for Lexus

LEXUS AUSTRALIA HAS ANNOUNCED that it will initiate a safety recall involving GS, GS F, IS, RC and RC F vehicles produced between January 2012 and August 2018, inclusive. There are 14,301 vehicles involved in the Australian market.

The involved vehicles are equipped with a fuel evaporative emission control unit (also referred to as fuel tank vent tube assembly) that is attached to the fuel tank by a flange. The fuel tank vent tube assembly prevents the fuel vapour that is created in the fuel tank from being released directly into the atmosphere.

Due to the design of the flange, there is a possibility that a stress related crack could develop on the exterior surface of the flange. The crack could expand over time and, depending on the size of the crack, could eventually allow fuel to leak from the crack.

Depending on the amount of fuel that escapes from the crack, and if it is in the presence of an ignition source, this could increase the risk of a vehicle fire.

For all involved vehicles, Lexus Dealers will replace the fuel-evaporative emission control unit free of charge to vehicle owners.

To replace the fuel-evaporative emission control unit will take approximately two hours; however, depending on the Dealer’s work schedule, owners may be required to make the vehicle available for a longer period of time.

Lexus Australia will provide owners of involved vehicles with details of this safety recall campaign by SMS, email and/or mail to their last known address.
