The Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 will be offered exclusively in a highly specified Veloce trim and will arrive in Australian dealerships in October 2023, priced from $77,500.
The Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 is a milestone for the brand’s electrification process and is the most efficient Alfa Romeo ever, with approximately 60km of all-electric range and 34g/km of CO2 tail pipe emissions produced.

The Alfa Romeo DNA system has been redefined to provide an incomparable driving experience. Combining efficiency with superior sportiness, the Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 is capable of reaching zero to 100km/h acceleration in just 6.2 seconds.
The powerful feeling the driver experiences in acceleration is enhanced by the e-AWD system: the instantaneous deployment of 100 percent of available torque from the electric motor makes the rear axle respond as soon as one steps on the throttle.
The 208kW Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 technology is among the best in the electrified C-SUV premium market in terms of performance and range. It enhances both driving pleasure and efficiency with smooth responses, stunning acceleration and benchmark electric range.
The Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 powertrain continues to redefine the brand’s DNA with new applications of the traditional Alfa Romeo drive modes: Advanced Efficiency, Natural, Dynamic and ESC OFF. A regenerative braking system recovers energy during passive driving phases (such as deceleration or light braking) in all driving modes. Additionally, the system switches in Natural mode when the battery reaches the minimum charge level regardless of the selected mode.
The 208kW Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 system is exceptional in terms of performance and battery life. The advanced hybrid system combines a 132kW, 1.3L turbocharged MultiAir, 4-cylinder engine coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission which provides traction to the front axle, with an electric motor capable of supplying 90kW of max peak power and 250Nm of torque to the rear axle.
The Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4’s 306-volt, 15.5kWh lithium-ion battery supplies an electric range of 60km. With total freedom of movement, it can be all-electric to use every day and hybrid for getting away.
Equipped with a 7.4kW AC on board charger and a Type 2 Smart Charging Port, that enables simple domestical AC charging and public AC charging, it takes less than 2.5 hours to fully charge the battery when the 7.4kW onboard charger is in use.
With a Q4 all-wheel drive system – the front-wheel drive is powered by the internal combustion engine and the rear-wheel drive powered by the electric motor – the Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Q4 provides Alfa Romeo’s trademark superior agility, lightness and driving dynamics.
