Ford’s Everest adds RWD Sport variant to range

NOT ALL BUYERS OF BIG 4WD trucks want to take them off road, so Ford’s decision to add a RWD variant makes good sense.

Designed and engineered in Australia, the Everest is a popular choice for unique bush and outback terrain, and Australian car buyers now have two new models to choose from; the special edition Everest BaseCamp and Everest Sport in rear wheel drive (RWD), along with the Everest Trend and Titanium models sporting a new look grille. These new offerings will be available in Australian showrooms from December.

“We know the travel habits of Australians are changing in the wake of COVID-19, and more and more Aussies will be looking for road trip adventures. The Everest offers a smooth ride on the highway, plus genuine off-road, off-the-beaten track capability,” said Andrew Birkic, President and CEO, Ford Australia and New Zealand. “Now, with the Everest BaseCamp Special Edition and Everest Sport in rear wheel drive, we’re offering more choice for our customers to take to the roads in vehicles that have been designed and engineered in Australia to make discovering our great country easy, safe and comfortable.”

Everest owners see themselves as getting away from it all

Everest BaseCamp

The Everest BaseCamp features bold new styling and a rugged appeal. The limited run of 450 vehicles is based on the Everest Trend 4×4 3.2-litre and 2.0-litre Bi-Turbo variants and come with a raft of features designed to make discovering the great Australian outdoors easier. The Ford Everest BaseCamp Special Edition, priced at an additional $2200 including fitment, represents $6000 of value (Ford’s figures) and includes the following:

  • 76mm Diameter Black Nudge Bar
  • Ford Licensed LED Light Bar
  • Ford Genuine Snorkel
  • Black Roof-mounted Carry Bars
  • Pioneer Platform
  • Genuine Sunseeker Awning
  • Ford Genuine Tow Bar rated to 3000kg (3.2-litre) and 3100kg (Bi-Turbo)

The styling includes BaseCamp decals on both front doors, bolder grey painted grille, front bumper skid, rear bumper skid, fender vents and wheels.

Good towing capacity is one of the Everest’s selling features
