NEW MODELS CONTINUE TO arrive on our shores. The latest are Audi’s SQ7 and SQ8. More powerful than their predecessors and showcasing the very latest automotive technology from the brand, the new Audis are powered for the first time by a TFSI engine and sport superior driving dynamics and benchmark equipment and luxury appointments.
“The SQ7 and SQ8 TFSI represent a unique combination of sportscar performance in a full-sized, luxury SUV that has always struck a chord with Australian customers,” says Jeff Mannering, Director of Audi Australia.
“The fact that large, luxury SUVs are capable of delivering this level of performance and handling is testament to Audi’s engineering prowess, and the level of appointment and finish mean that they deliver on all fronts.”
Proven performer: 4.0 TFSI bi-turbo V8
The new SQ7 and SQ8 TFSI models are now more powerful than their predecessors, thanks to their new 4.0 TFSI V8 with twin turbochargers. Producing 373kW of power and 770Nm of torque and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds, they deliver blistering performance, yet are still capable of returning acceptable fuel consumption thanks to the presence of advanced efficiency features. Fuel figures of 12.2 L/100km (SQ8) are possible thanks to technology like Cylinder on Demand (CoD) which deactivates four of the eight cylinders temporarily when the engine is not under load, allowing for greater efficiency while at cruising speeds.
Complementing the immense power, the SQ7 and SQ8 feature dynamic all-wheel steering and adaptive air suspension sport as standard for the perfect balance between comfortable ride and dynamic performance. For those looking to further enhance the dynamic ability of the two, a Dynamic Package is available featuring quattro sport differential and electromechanical active roll stabilisation – a revolutionary technology that affords extraordinary body control for such a vehicle.
Sporty styling and sumptuous interior
The pair both exhibit a sporty stance on the road, including S body styling with S front and rear bumpers, grille, side sills and rear tailgate spoiler. Their bold presence is further enhanced with 22-inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers, aluminium-look exterior mirrors and Audi’s archetypal Matrix LED headlights, featuring dynamic rear indicators (and HD matrix with laser light on SQ7). A panoramic sunroof, privacy glass, heated and folding side mirrors, power assisted door closure and roof rails (only on the SQ7) are also included as standard equipment.
This strong yet elegant appearance is not limited to the exterior, with S-style features and classic Audi execution evident throughout their spacious cabins. The new SQ7 and SQ8 TFSI feature Valcona leather upholstery with diamond patterned contrasting stitching and S sport front seats as standard, heated, electronically adjustable (and with driver memory for the SQ8) with 4-way lumber support included. The addition of colour ambient lighting package adds to the premium feel of the interiors while touches like the illuminated door sill trims with aluminium inlay and S emblem are perfectly in keeping with the quality feel and finish throughout.
Customers benefit from one of the highest levels of equipment and technology ever paired to an S model in Australia. Outstanding connectivity and infotainment features abound, highlighted by the 10.1-inch haptic touch MMI navigation plus screen and 8.6-inch haptic touch screen for vehicle functions. The pair also features the Audi virtual cockpit, with a 12.3-inch high-resolution screen, Audi connect plus, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, and a 17-speaker, 730-watt Bang & Olufsen 3D Sound system. For those wanting to enhance the ambience of their generously-sized interior, Sensory packages are available for both models.
The highest levels of safety
The new SQ7 and SQ8 TFSI boast an impressive line-up of the latest driver assistance and safety systems available. Advance features such as all-wheel steering and adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go and traffic jam assist enhance the driving experience regardless of the conditions, while 360-degree cameras with kerb view, front and rear parking sensors, assist in manoeuvring in tight spots. With a full suite of safety systems from Audi pre-sense front and pre-sense rear, Audi active lane, side, and cross traffic assist all standard equipment, safety is a priority in both the SQ7 and SQ8 TFSI.
