Mazda offers all CX-8 FWD variants with 2.5-litre petrol engine

RECOGNISING THAT MORE than 70 percent of Mazda CX-8 customers choose petrol engines over the diesel option since first offering a petrol variant in 2020, Mazda CX-8 line-up now sees all FWD variants feature the naturally aspirated 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G petrol engine.

All grades of Mazda CX-8 driven by the front wheels will be offered with the highly efficient 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G petrol engine, producing 140kW of power and 252Nm of torque.

All-wheel-drive models will be exclusively powered by Mazda’s 2.2-litre Skyactiv-D twin-turbo diesel engine, which delivers 140kW and 450Nm of pulling power.

Mazda Australia Managing Director, Vinesh Bhindi said the Mazda CX-8 has enjoyed strong growth as the range continues to evolve over time.

“Mazda CX-8 has become a strong contender in the large family SUV category, with dimensions that offer good manoeuvrability without compromising on space or comfort for all seven occupants,” he said.

“Customer demand for the model continues to grow; from November 2020 to November 2021, we’ve seen a more than 80 percent increase on sales, encouraging us to further diversify the range to give customers even more choice.”

The Mazda CX-8 has a five-star ANCAP safety rating and boasts an impressive list of passive and active safety features across all model grades including blind-Spot Monitoring, Lane-keep Assist System, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Smart Brake Support and Smart City Brake Support for front and rear.

The updated range of Mazda CX-8 is on sale now.
